Ellen DeGeneres' $47 million property is officially off the market! The Ellen Show host initially listed the property for $53 million, but she eventually decided to lower its price tag.
In 2019, DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi purchased the multiple bedroom abode from Adam Levine for $42.5 million. Less than two years later, she managed to make $4.5 million from it.
The happy couple has been flipping houses throughout the past couple of years. Amid the pandemic, DeGeneres purchased a massive home in Montecito for $33.3 million. And she managed to sell it for $27 million just months later.
Around the same time, the funny woman managed to sell another property from the same neighborhood to Ariana Grande for $6.75 million.
Throughout their 12-year marriage, DeGeneres and de Rossi have reportedly owned 20 houses. And the Finding Dory has her dad to thank.
Years ago, DeGeneres told Architectural Digest that it was her dad who inspired her to invest in real estate. And when she was still young, DeGeneres and her family never owned a home. So, when she finally the means, she vowed to herself that she would buy as many houses as she could.
“We always rented. But my father would dream, and we used to look at houses all the time. I’d pick out which bedroom would be mine and get all excited. The first thing I did when I made money was to buy a house,” she said.
In 2019, DeGeneres and de Rossi sold three properties priced at $6.98 million, $15.5 million, and $23 million. The comedian said that she learned early on that property owners can earn a huge sum of money if they are dedicated to improving their homes.
However, DeGeneres clarified that she’s not selling houses for the money. In fact, every time she and de Rossi buy a home, they vow to live in it for the rest of their lives.
But it doesn’t also take the couple very long to get bored and decide to live in a house with an entirely different ambiance.
Today, DeGeneres and de Rossi live in a $49 million Montecito estate that was previously owned by Saturday Night Live star Dennis Miller.
According to Insider, the award-winning host paid the hefty sum in cash. And it is her most expensive purchase to date. However, it is unclear for how long DeGeneres and de Rossi will live here.
